A Very Hot Sunday

Sunday Sep 18
Early to bed last night after a very nice birthday meal (Harry) at an Italian restaurant.
We rose to another blue sky, unseasonably hot, day. In the 30sC yesterday and again to-day.
Mike worked hard in the garden cutting down shrubbery which obstructed views, both front and back areas, I swept up leaves and Pam saw to the washing. I then took some photos of the grounds whilst Sara took Mojo to the dog park for a walk and a run around. She said he was too hot too! Some of the photos are below, I got frustrated trying to add them in the order I wanted and have given up.
Late morning, we three women went to Cole in Kenmore Village to do the shopping - the nearest Cole at Bellbowrie is not due to open until the end of October - aftermath of the big flood.
Sara took us home the very pretty way, via our favourite Colleges Crossing to see how it looked after the deluge. Devastated is the answer. The approach road creek had a huge area of fallen and dead trees and shrubs. The restaurant atop a knoll and under a beautiful giant Fig tree was no more. Neither was the tree. Huge mounds of soil and a re-shaped lagoon with an island now. The causeway across to the other side had gone too. What a shame.
After lunch I played cards wih Josh before retiring indoors for some respite from the heat.
It's dark by 6 at this time of year. Sara's not well to-day either, the onset of a cold she thinks. That's not stopping her from cooking our dinner though....

Mike trimming the shrubbery on the front verandah

Patio table and pool
Ramp to back garden - Mojo thunders up here at great speed - and back down again. Very startling.
Back garden, badminton net and shed (more like a pavilion)
Resident Kookaburra - back garden in very tall Ironbark tree

Front garden - the previous owners left the lady here
